| Consider it a given that there are significant cultural differences exist between Thailand and the West. Some of these differences work to the benefit of Farangs, but not all of them. Know this, may well be standard operating procedure in other countries may be viewed much differently in Thailand. Then again, what is commonly accepted in Thailand, may be considered foreign to other cultures and countries. Don’t think for a minute this means you should look at everything regarding Thailand as if it is better or worse than another culture or country. It simply means you are going to notice differences. Some of these unique practices might require compromise or acceptance. A Thai Girl may have to be willing to grant you similar courtesies. This is a key point to recognize. 2. Dishonoring or Disrespecting a Thai Woman’s Family. In Thailand, the family unit is the foundation for Thai society. Most families are truly bonded. They are close knit for life, filled with love and support, memories and tradition. Yes, today’s Thai Girls are much more independent than past generations, but not to the point they will “run off” with a man without the consent or blessing of their family. The fact of the matter is if you aren’t willing to respect or honor how much family means in Thailand, you’re hurting your chances for success and happiness with most Thai Girls. Disrespecting, disregarding or dishonoring Thailand is a big mistake every Farang will want to avoid. 4. Operating by “The Microwave Mentality.” Remember, Thai Gilrs are family oriented. So, should you become smitten with a Thai Girl, you might expect her to follow Thai culture and tradition. Therefore, you might need to prepare yourself for courtship in Thai Dating. Get ready for your Thai Girl to show up for your beginning dates with a chaperone. If she does, it doesn’t imply she distrusts you or dislikes you. It is just that she is adhering to Thai Dating Culture or Thai Dating Etiquette. So, don’t lose sight of the “big picture.” The courtship phase in Thai Dating is temporary.5.
